What do you know - I do one palette review and now I've got a lineup of products to review for you guys! On top of all my LORAC palettes I have coming to share with you guys, I recently got an older-style Feminine palette by Urban Decay in a swap that I had to share with you guys. The palette is available in two different packaging styles, and though it's been discontinued in stores I still see it for sale from personal collections online quite frequently, which means you can definitely find it under the retail value of $36.
This palette definitely gets some points for unique packaging. The palette is really solidly constructed, and covered in a purple-pink satin fabric, and then over that, with a clear plastic cover with a printed black lace pattern. I love the way this palette is so secure - the zipper makes it an easy on-the-go or traveling palette, as you won't have to worry about it opening in your bag, and the plastic covering makes it pretty resistant to liquid and stains. As I said, I did get this palette in a swap - it was not brand new, as you can see by the wrinkling in the purple fabric, in the upper picture. The palette still lies flat because of the plastic cover, but it definitely loosens over time. I used a picture from VampyVarnish to show the inside of a brand new palette - I love the purple watercolor design! It comes with a mini Lip Junkie gloss, which is another great Urban Decay product. Though I didn't get it along with the palette, I do have a full size in Obsessed that I am pretty obsessed with (; |
Colors & Swatches
I don't think I will ever have enough brown eyeshadow. Lost is a deep pigmented brown with a dark bronze-y shimmer.
Really like this color - it's a nice mauve pink-brown with a good amount of gold shimmer. It would be nice to add a little color to your look, while still keeping in neutral.
Love that this palette contains an awesome highlight color. Skimp is a light peach-beige color with a pearl shimmer, and is great to use as a brightening or stand-alone color.
Gunmetal is a great dark shade. Looks like a soft charcoal with a silver micro-glitter - it's a great dark color in that it's pigmented and solid, but not too harsh - I could see this blending into other colors very easily.
This is the first greenish eyeshadow I've ever loved! Hijack is a super pigmented greenish-teal shimmer shadow - looks really nice with my pink-undertone skin!
AC/DC is a Godsend. I'm always searching for awesome purple shadows as I'm completely in love with the color, and this is a great option! This purple has hints of grey which keep it bright but wearable.
My Overall Opinion
This is the best Urban Decay palette I have tried so far. I haven't really liked the consistency of the other UD eyeshadows I've used, but the shadows in this palette were smooth and creamy, and (of course) pigmented like crazy, which is what UD is really notorious for. I think this palette allows for a few fun looks using only these shadows, and I really like that it has a full neutral-eye look. I will say, however, that it doesn't seem like the three more colored shadows could work together in an a shadow combination. That being said, I still use them all the time, paired with some shadows in my other palettes.
What brand makes your favorite eyeshadow palette? I'm on the fence between the Balm and Too Faced...lemme know what you think - send me a comment!!
